Valcamonica, Italy cave drawing glass tile
$35.00 / On Sale
4" x 6" fused glass display tile, combining a petroglyph on a cave wall in Valcamonica, Italy. Some people say these figures depict ancient aliens that came to visit Earth thousands of years ago.
The crackle glass part is made first, using multiple layers of powder glass frit, with a clear backing piece, so it's transparent when held up to the light. I then reproduced images of cave drawings and petroglyphs and burned them onto a silkscreen, and then screened the images onto the top layer of glass, by pressing fine glass powder through the screen, then fire them again in the kiln at a low tack-fuse temperature.
Signed and dated on the back.
I use all Bullseye 90COE soft glass.
